The BBC commissioned Easy-Web-Page to develop a new way to make their website more accessible to people with little or no reading ability.
“In 2006 iTabloid Ltd submitted a proposal through the BBC Innovation Labs that caught the BBC New Media Accessibility Team's imagination. The proposal was for the development of an application that would enable users with learning difficulties use a mixture of webpage voicing and customisable image libraries to browse and select desired content.
As the BBC publishes a substantial amount of AV content, continuing the development of tools such a iTabloid could be the answer to removing many of the barriers inherent in standard web design for users with learning disabilities.”
